The Home Builders Association (HBA) of Greater Cleveland recently held their Annual Installation and Awards Banquet at the Intercontinental Hotel East of downtown Cleveland, and is pleased to announce that George Davis, Owner of ProBuilt Homes of Mentor has been installed as the 2013 HBA President.

With almost 200 people in attendance, Mr. Davis took the oath of presidency and gave a heartfelt speech regarding his ability to accomplish the American Dream. Having grown up in the housing industry, his father worked in a truss shop and Davis related his childhood memories of driving around with his father as his dad pointed to homes where he had built the roof – as a homebuilder today Davis finds himself doing the same thing.

A graduate of Case Western Reserve University, Davis had thought he would work in corporate America, however after graduation he went to work with his cousin remodeling homes and eventually building them. As Davis puts it he had found his entrepreneurial calling and started his own business in the mid-2000s.”

Soon afterwards, the housing Industry experienced the longest housing slowdown in history, but he has survived and knows that he is a better businessman for it.

Davis complimented many of his colleagues that fought through these tough times and survived – today he looks forward to the future. Housing has started to see an upswing both locally and nationally and Davis believes the “industry is poised to rise again.”

The housing industry contributes approximately 15% of the Gross Domestic Product of the US economy and has led the country out of every recession. The HBA would like to remind consumers that the assembly of a home can never be outsourced to another country and homes will always be made in America.

Other HBA officers installed for the coming year include Vice President Rick Colwell, of Little Mountain Homes; Treasurer Mike Payne Jr. of Payne and Payne Builders; and Secretary Ryan Puzzitiello of Parkview Homes.

The HBA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion, advancement and professionalism of the Building, Remodeling and Associated Industries. The HBA of Greater Cleveland is a 300+ member organization that represents all aspects of housing and serves as the voice of housing in northeast Ohio while protecting the Foundation of the American Dream of owning a home.
